Overall score

Tenerife's trump card is Mount Teide: a 3,718m volcano with multiple road approaches, each one a serious climb in its own right. Chris Froome won four Tours from training camps here. The altitude exposure, combined with warm coastal temperatures, makes it a favourite for pros and ambitious amateurs alike. The roads are generally smooth, the landscape other-worldly, and the ability to ride from sea level to 2,100m (as high as the road goes) in a single day is an experience you won't forget.
