Overall score

Norway offers a completely different kind of cycling adventure. Quiet roads snake along fjords with walls of water tumbling from above. The Trollstigen serpentine, the Atlantic Ocean Road, and the routes of the Lofoten Islands are bucket-list material. The infrastructure is excellent, drivers are respectful, and the wild camping laws mean you can sleep almost anywhere. It is expensive — significantly so — but those who come are rarely disappointed. The best window is June to August, with long daylight hours stretching late into the evening.
